This one adjustment immediately increased both Personal Training and dotFIT revenue, and took Yakima Athletic Club from a Top 50 to a Top 10 Club.
The biggest difference is that we have compliance now – before, all sales were done at POS and no trainer sold anything at all. Now, we have the minimum qualifier that they all get and some sell more, but from a compliance standpoint, they know they do not receive their commission if they do not sell $50.
This is what is the most significant turnaround for us – and you were right – you set the standard and then you hold them accountable. Moving forward we now have set a precedent and the department will be more efficient to manage due to the fact that [our Fitness Manager, Sales Manager] and I are reviewing this each month. We have had to hold only one trainer to the standard so far (just this past payroll).
We are very pleased with the decision we made and the progress we have made as a department.
